
The political authorities of the Province are as follows:
The President and the Provincial Council are elected together and directly by citizens through a two-round voting system. The President is the head of the administration and he represents the institution and the community as a whole. He remains in office for 5 years and can be re-elected once.
Among his main tasks, he is entitled to convene and chair the Executive, supervise the functioning of departments and appoint those who are in charge of them.
The Provincial Executive is the executive body and is appointed by the President; it is composed by the President himself who appoints the aldermen. The President also chooses a Vice President among the members of the body.
As far as its functions are concerned, the Provincial Executive helps the President to implement the Council's policies, submits proposals to the Council and passes both the Economic Management Plan and the regulation on the organization of departments and services.
The Executive's political-administrative structure describes the composition of governmental bodies and the proxies to each member of the entity.
The President appoints the aldermen by the means of a decree.
The Provincial Council is composed of the Councillors and is elected by citizens.
Its sessions are chaired by the President, Orlandino Greco, who is entitled to convene them.
The Council, in accordance with law, is the institution in charge of orienting the policies and supervising.
Included in the former task there is the activity of contributing to the definition of guidelines concerning the actions and plans than need to be carried out during the term of office and the activity of approving general directives.
As far as the supervising task is concerned, the Council asks the Executive to report on the implementation of specific guidelines and also verifies and examines the implementation of the guidelines by the President of the Province and each alderman.
